How to measure your pupillary distance at home
We recommend that our clients ask their local optometrist to include the pupillary distance (PD) on the prescription when getting it, but sometimes it's overlooked. Follow the visual guide below to learn how to measure your PD at home by yourself or with the help of a friend.
What is PD (pupillary distance) and why is it important?
The measured distance between the centers of your pupils is called pupillary distance (or PD). This measurement is used to determine where to mount the lenses optical center.
Every pair of prescription eyewear have an optical center, which means where on the lenses you look through them. We use this to make sure you get the best experience possible with the YouZee Inserts.
The average PD of an adult is between 54-74 mm, while the average PD of a child is 43-58 mm.
You have 2 alternatives
1. Measure yourself with a millimeter ruler. Follow the guide on this page below.
